Well, it is Monday again and I am actually in the house working. Jeff is out in the deer stand this morning….LOL
I have been working on some quilting this weekend. I am finishing up the binding on Ursula’s quilt – still have a little less than 1/4 left to do, so will have photos of that later this week after I wash it and put the label on.
I also came up with a brilliant (just my humble opinion, remember!) idea to use the Moda layer cake Crazy Eight by Sandy Gervais. Remember I won it in a blog drawing I posted about here? Pat at Silver Thimble Talk was the host and sent me some luscious goodies, including the layer cake. (By the way, her blog is a lot of fun, she is a very talented lady, and you will see some beautiful quilts! Go visit!).
Anyway, I had been mulling over this layer cake for quite some time on what to do with it. It is Christmas-themed fabric, so I hated to let it go without becoming a quilt before Christmas…So, here is what is on my design wall today!
This has been a fun, quick quilt to work on. There will be 40 blocks total and there are only 23 on the wall, so I still have a few to go. My design wall won’t quite be big enough, so I will probably move them to the floor to determine final layout.
The big questions….1. “Will it be quilted before Christmas?” and 2. “Will I keep it or give it away as a gift?”
When I am finished I will post a tutorial on how I made the blocks as I haven’t seen this method before for the layer cakes (not that someone hasn’t already done it, I just haven’t seen it or run across it). And it was so easy, I will do it again for sure!
