Stash Report – March 21, 2010

Well, I bought 9 yards of fabric yesterday but it is all earmarked for a quilt I am working on for a wedding gift. This is Keith and Angie’s pineapple blossom quilt and is a California King, so it is LARGE to say the least. 6 yards of the fabric is for the borders alone! The rest will all go for the back along with a Dukes of Hazzard sheet I bought on Ebay a year ago. Keith is a big Duke’s of Hazzard fan and goes to the Dukefest back east every year. I thought he would appreciate including them on the back of his quilt, and that his bride would appreciate them being on the back of the quilt, not the front!  🙂

I calculated how much fabric went into each of these pineapple blocks yesterday, and with 81 blocks, I have about 12.15 yards of fabric in the blocks on the top alone! WOW! There will be a sizable addition to my stash used when I am finally done with this thing.

Here are my stats for the week.

Used this week:  0 yards
Used this year:  82.1 yards
Added this week:   9 yards
Added this year:   33.21 yards
Net used for 2010:  48.89 yards from stash

  1. It is always surprising how much fabric is needed for borders and backing – they really help with using up our stash. Your numbers are great.

  2. doing good on your net used this year. Doesn’t using a sheet as part of the backing make it hard to quilt? Never tried it but I have heard it makes for tension problems.
