I thought I would share some of the photos I have taken so far this winter.
We have had some interesting weather this year. The Farmer’s Almanac said it would be a hard winter, and so far it has definitely been cold and snowy! The kids missed four days of school due to snow prior to the holidays which is almost unheard of around here.
During the extreme cold the first of December my mom and dad were on vacation in Arizona for two weeks and I was feeding horses at their house and making sure the well house and the house plumbing didn’t freeze up. Just across the road is a 40-acre field where they owner runs cattle. This was the scene one morning as I arrived to feed. The sun was just coming up and the light on the ice was incredible.
The individual ice crystals that formed on the fence and the grasses was beautiful!
Isn’t this one beautiful?
This is ice on a small maple in front of our house. This was taken around Christmas and was another batch of freezing rain or sleet we have had.
This photo was taken the same day as the one above, but was in the drive of my in-law’s home.
This is the Hunter and his nephew, RJ, who also hunts. They were leaving for a duck hunting expedition and I wanted to get a picture of them together before the Hunter shaves off his beard. These two look SO much alike! RJ coached Big Brother’s baseball team one season and my dad saw him walking across the field and thought it was the Hunter walking. They walk alike, act quite a bit alike, and with the beards, look even more alike!
This final photo is of Munchie and Chocolate on New Year’s Day. She got a new halter and lead rope for him for Christmas and we needed to try it. We were also enjoying the nice weather before the cold and snow hit again.
